Homeschool Workshops – Tuesdays (AM Sessions)
WED PM Sessions, 12:30-2:30 PM
We can work with families to choose topics that meet your student's interests.
(each 3-week session: members $96, non-members $120)
For small groups of home school students in grades 3 through 8, join fun and educational STEM workshops to enrich your home education. These 2-hour sessions run 12:30-2:30 with an option to extend 30 minutes earlier from 12:00-12:30 pm lunch/exploration time for kids to socialize.
Current Plan (subject to change)
May 27 — (1) Mars rover egg drop contest, learn about atmosphere of Mars vs. Earth, how rovers can/can't land, potential vs kinetic energy, build a lander to protect an egg falling 3 stories, and (2) build a simple Battlin’Bot and have initial tournament.
June 3 — (1) Air powered paper rocketry, learn about propulsion, G forces, Max Q, gravity, and current events in space science while building a paper rocket. Launch in the parking lot, and take it home, and (2) continue improving Battlin’Bot designs and have a second tournament.
June 10 — (1) Learn basic chemistry, atoms vs. molecules, heat and molecular motion, Kelvin scale, phase changes, experiment with Liquid Nitrogen (LN2), physics of magnetism and superconductors, experiment with air pressure - balloons in LN2 and in vacuum chamber, experiment with superconductors - levitating magnets, mag-lev track, Meisner effect (suspended magnets), freeze LN2 solid to simulate the surface of Pluto. (2) more Battlin’bots or laser engraving.

We want you and your child to be comfortable with our facility and enrichment program. Note that we are a maker space for educational workshops, not a school, camp, or daycare.
No membership needed for this program. Open to all Home School students in grades 3-8.
